Ann Womack joined the Board in March 2023. She moved to Siskiyou County in 2019 to teach biology at College of the Siskiyous. Prior to Siskiyou County, Ann lived in rural eastern Oregon where she discovered a deep appreciation of rural landscapes and working lands. In eastern Oregon, Ann was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Adams, OR. Her work at the USDA involved educating farmers and studying the importance of soil biology and biodiversity in agricultural ecosystems.

Ann is originally from central Illinois. Her curiosity about the natural world and passion for conservation stem from trips with her father to the forests in southern Illinois and elsewhere. Ann earned a BS in Microbiology from Southern Illinois University and a PhD in biology from the University of Oregon at the Institute for Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. It was at UO that she discovered her love of teaching.

Ann brings her dedication to teaching and outreach as well as deep knowledge about ecology and biodiversity to her role as a Board member. She is delighted to use her expertise to work with the SLT staff and fellow board members to help preserve the natural beauty, biodiversity, and ecosystem services of Siskiyou County.
