Siskiyou Land Trust holds some lands that are dedicated to specific conservation values, such as wildlife habitat and ecosystem preservation. There is no public access to these areas, but there is huge public value in the protection of scenic views, the health of waterways and wetlands, the support of fisheries and wildlife, botanical treasures such as endangered plants and healthy, resilient forests.

Rainbow Ridge – This 600 acre of mixed conifer and oak forest rises above the community of Mt. Shasta on the slopes of the Eddy mountains. A conservation easement over this tract permanently protects this highly developable and scenic property as a sustainable working forest and wildlife preserve, as was the intent of Thamar Wherrit when she passed away in August 2019. Hammond Pond – The area covered by the waters of Dwight Hammond Reservoir is held by SLT in permanent protection for the wildlife, scenic and watershed values that this beautiful pond ensures. Access to the pond is via private roads, so there is no general public access, but migrating Canada geese, sand hill cranes, bear, deer, eagles, osprey, and river otter use the area year-round!
