Woolsey McKernon has a long history building successful early-stage companies in technology, development, construction, finance, and more recently natural capital assets. He has been at the intersection of sustainable development, intelligent buildings, and creative capital strategies to scale solutions to mitigate climate change.

Woolsey started his career in the built environment at Autodesk, worked globally with Bechtel Group, and set up and ran a real estate development arm for Webcor Builders. He got his MSc in Environmental Management in Singapore, where he worked in real estate investment management. Upon returning to the US, he focused on scaling building energy efficiency finance with Mitsui and Deutsche Bank. He was Chief Revenue Officer of the largest originator for Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy financing, where he raised $500M and closed the industry’s largest deal.

Being from VT, his rural roots run deep. The pull of his rural roots had him joining Mast to build their sales team and deliver a first-of-its-kind financing vehicle to provide no-cost reforestation to fire-affected landowners. He most recently joined Anew Climate to maximize the value and environmental impact of the leading U.S. carbon-focused forestry owner (Aurora Sustainable Lands).

While he’s made his career in global cities, he’s come full circle to SLT where he’s been a Mt Shasta property owner since 2003, abutting the Wherrit Demonstration Forest on Rainbow Ridge. Woolsey has a MSc in Environmental Management from the National University, Singapore and a BA from the University of Vermont. He lives in Ashland, OR with his wife and two sons and is an avid outdoorsmen, gravel rider, backcountry skier, backpacker, and Victory Gardener.
