Dear Friends and Partners,Â
Â
After guiding Siskiyou Land Trust with care and purpose for fifteen years, Executive Director Kathleen Hitt will be passing the torch and stepping away to take time for herself and family. We are deeply grateful for the legacy she leaves, the trail she blazed, and the inspiring leadership she's provided every step of the way.Â
Â
Kathleen began her journey with SLT in 2010 as a part-time Conservation Director, joining a small but spirited organization with a $70,000 operating budget and 150 acres of conserved land. From those humble beginnings, and with the support of a few dedicated part-time staff and a devoted community, she helped grow SLT into the thriving organization it is today.Â
Â
With her authentic mix of optimism, creativity, and a can-do attitude, Kathleen has been at the heart of shaping this chapter of SLT into a dynamic, people-powered land trust. Over the years, she's shared thousands of cups of coffee with partners, walked countless miles alongside landowners and volunteers, and poured herself into conversations, proposals, meetings, and moments big and small— all in service of a shared vision for conservation in Siskiyou County. Her care and commitment have touched every part of this work, and every person fortunate to be part of it. Â
As she prepares for this mid-summer transition, Kathleen bids farewell with the assurance that SLT is on solid ground. She shared with a smile, "Siskiyou Land Trust is an inspired group of people with immense talent and experience. SLT is in strong, capable hands. I'm confident its future and the future of our relationships will be as vibrant and resilient as the lands we've worked so hard to protect together."Â
Â
SLT's Board of Directors is prepared for the change ahead and working together to confirm a thoughtful transition plan that supports our dedicated staff, maintains the organization's incredible momentum, and assures an abundant, sustainable future. Â
Â
Please join us in celebrating Kathleen's legacy and those who have illuminated the Land Trust's path with their passion and vision at our Summer Solstice Celebration on June 20th at Luginbuhl Ranch Preserve from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Â
Â
With heartfelt gratitude,Â
