Millie Whipplesmith Plank brings a unique blend of experience as a fourth-generation California rancher, former public-school educator, and acclaimed woodcut artist to her role with the Siskiyou Land Trust. As one of the landowners involved in SLT’s first large conservation easement, she has witnessed the organization’s evolution from a neighborhood-focused effort into a countywide leader in land conservation.

A dedicated conservation advocate, Millie has created woodcut art for numerous conservation organizations, including the Mono Lake Committee and Point Blue Conservation Sciences. She is a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists and Artists for Conservation. She has also served as artist in residence at Glacier National Park and Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Millie’s artwork is held in the permanent collections of the Leigh Yawkey Museum in Wisconsin and the Maryhill Museum of Art in Washington. Her lifelong commitment to stewardship, education, and the ecosystem continues to enrich the mission and vision of the Siskiyou Land Trust.
