Marty Sochet
Board Member

Marty has been coming to the far northern California area for forty-five years to kayak and raft its beautiful rivers. Throughout his counseling career in the Bay Area, he always looked forward to meeting up with friends from Siskiyou County to share long river days on the Sacramento, Klamath, and Rogue Rivers. In recent years he and his wife, Carol Jenkins, had the tremendous, good fortune of being able to make Mt. Shasta their home.

Marty and Carol bought 10 acres of undeveloped land with several tributaries of the Shasta River flowing through it. They’ve been stewarding that propertyand while Marty always knew how much he could love people and animals, he’s learned how much he loves caring for and protecting land, too.

Marty has been part of the Siskiyou Land Trust volunteer team for several years and is now delighted to join the Board. He treasures the opportunity to work with people who share the wish to preserve the wild and open spaces that are abundant in this county. In addition to his commitment to protecting our natural environment, he brings a professional background in interpersonal communication valuable to the Siskiyou Land Trust mission.
