Dear Community,

Siskiyou Land Trust is an organization committed to caring for the lands we protect, literally, forever. With a timeline like that, we have to keep a tight hold on the big picture and recognize that the various eras of our work will come and go.

As we wrapped up the 2024/25 fiscal year, we closed on one era of land trust leadership and prepared to usher in the next. The incredible growth of our portfolio of conserved properties and staff expansion led by Kathleen Hitt has paved the way for the focus on long-term sustainability. As we search for our next Executive Director, we’ll be looking for a leader with not only a strong conservation background, but also deep skills in fundraising and relationship building.

Likewise, with the heartbreaking passing of our friend and fellow SLT Board member, Gareth Plank, we celebrate the legacy of his leadership while gratefully embracing the fresh perspectives brought by new Board members.

Forever is a very long time. Long enough to grapple with change and come out the other side stronger than ever, all while recognizing that more change will always be around the corner. We’re grateful for your support in the effort to be sustainable, flexible, and creative enough to embrace the opportunities and face the challenges that “forever” brings.

In gratitude,

Wendy Whitson
Board President, Siskiyou Land Trust
