Come join us on Nov. 13 for a grand journey through the wilds of the Alaskan rainorest.

A Kayaker’s Sojourn through the Alaskan Rainforest: Photographs of Dan Kiely, is the first of this season’s popular SLT Slideshows.  The event will begin at 7pm at the Sisson Museum Events Room in Mt. Shasta.  A $5 donation is a fundraiser for SLT.

Wandering and photographing the wilds of the Alaskan rainforest is the core passion of Dan Kiely’s life. Traveling by kayak amidst the hundreds of islands that encompass the Tongass rainforest of the Alaskan panhandle, he has passed 900 days (mostly solo) paddling and exploring the land and waters of one of America’s greatest wildernesses.

Included in his presentation will be an extraordinary collection of images of the humpback whale collective feeding behavior known as bubblenet feeding.

Dan’s photographs cover the spectrum from wildlife to classic landscape to abstraction from nature. Documenting and interpreting the temperate
rainforest and its extraordinary fauna and flora, glaciers, mountains and myriad plant species for 13 summers, he has generated an extensive archive of the world’s most amazing temperate rainforest – a place accessible to all for adventure and exploration.
