SLT Annual Meeting May 18th at 6pm

2017_ann_mtg_inviteSiskiyou Land Trust (SLT) invites the community to connect and engage with our work in Siskiyou County to preserve open spaces, create and support community projects, and build connections to nature by attending SLT’s annual meeting on May 18th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Sisson Museum. You’ll hear about achievements and project updates, then participate in an informal speed dating session where you’ll connect with our lead stewards to learn about our projects and ways you can put your skills and interests to work on these projects.

People are the Heart of Siskiyou Land Trust

Volunteers having fun together at the 2016 Picnic in the Park community celebration.

Siskiyou Land Trust is blessed by the amazing community support that gets so much done in our community and on our county’s lands. As we looked back at 2016, we were astonished and so honored when we stopped to add up our volunteer efforts: 3,537 hours of volunteer time in 2016!

Those hours were spent clearing trails, maintaining open space, performing monitoring on conserved lands, installing benches, putting on fundraisers and community events, leading field trips, grant writing, providing office support, putting on the slideshow series, and supporting fundraising efforts.

2016 Achievements – so far!

Community Accomplishes So Much! 2016 isn’t over yet – and already we’re excited to share and celebrate our achievements. Siskiyou Land Trust is made up of members and volunteers who do great work – giving of their time, energy, creativity and resources – to make things happen on the land and in community. SLT is blessed with amazing people who embrace the roles of lead stewards, special event volunteers, board members, committee members, field trip leaders, community partners and event organizers. This organization is also supported by an ever-growing foundation of members and donors who support our work. As we transition into shorter days and longer nights, we’re taking some time to reflect on all that has been achieved this year through community and partnership.

Siskiyou Land Trust is pleased to announce that Pacific Power Foundation has awarded funding to assist in SLT’s work to bring students , educators and community to Sisson Meadow and the Garden Greenway in Mt. Shasta.

In 2013 the Land Trust launched the Garden Greenway Acquisition project – an effort to raise funds for the purchase of this 2.89-acre parcel across from Sisson School, the Mt. Shasta Public Library, Sisson Meadow and neighborhoods. Through community fundraising, $150,000 was raised to purchase the property.
Since the Land Trust’s purchase of the property in January 2014, with the hard work of community volunteers and in-kind donations of material and equipment use, the landscape is being prepared for its role in […]
